Is Asia Following the West Down the Wrong Energy Path?

Part of the problem is that Asian countries, and developing nations on other continents, still appear to want to emulate the West, rather than surpass it. -- Excerpt from The Jakarta Globe
Clean energy is certainly a challenge to every nation in the world, especially Asia. Providing energy to fuel the development while reducing the effect of the development itself.
The latest statement is worth to fight for: "maybe it's time for Asia to lead rather than follow"

As part of the ceremonial of world environment day, we've been doing several activities through out the city. The main events were planting trees and fun bike. The idea is to promote beneficial culture for the environment. The following today, which is today, we hold a conference with member of district administrative, local community representatives, and highly ranking official member under a tagline of "hijau berau, bersama menggapai masa depan kemilau".

Internal audit of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001

I've been an Internal Auditor for two years. Today, I audited the HR Department. From what I thought going to be a breeze schedule has turned into tight schedule because several documents become non-conformance.

These are things that keep crossing my mind after the audit:
4.3.1 - hazard identification and risk assessment, 4.4.1 - role and responsibility, 4.4.2 - competence, 4,5,4 - control of records, 4.4.6 - operational control, 4.2 - policy, 4.6 - management review.

Funny, because I can't get these things out of my mind, so I figured out that writing about it would ease my mind.

What a day!

Forest moratorium puts existing and future mining projects in jeopardy

Coal and mining projects with a combined value of $14 billion could be hit by a forest moratorium that would make it harder for them to obtain land-use permits. -- Excerpt from The Jakarta Globe.

Environment is, no doubt, at stake, but still you won't be able to develop your future without energy. Clean energy is indeed our future, but like it or not coal is still our main resources to feed the human's hunger for energy.

Carbohydrates for phone battery. Next, it could be fiber

The concept is using bio battery to replace the traditional battery to create a pollution free environment.

Bio battery is an ecologically friendly energy generates electricity from carbohydrates (currently sugar) and utilizes enzymes as the catalyst.

Excerpt from Mashable.

There are two challenges in the way: (1) Investment cost not just to create the battery but to create phone that able to handle liquid battery, (2) Form factor, no further explanation is required on this matter.
